Geminor appoints new country manager in Denmark

Per Mernelius, who has been in charge of Geminor’s operations in Sweden since 2016, is now also appointed Country Manager in Denmark. Mernelius replaces the former Country Manager in Denmark, Kasper Thomsen, who was recently appointed Operations Director in the Geminor group.

Initially, Mernelius will be in charge of the Danish market for 12 months, pending the appointment of a new country manager in Denmark.

“Being in charge of both markets is both a great challenge and an opportunity, and I look forward to contributing to the development of Geminor in both markets,” says CM of Sweden and Denmark, Per Mernelius.

“Denmark and Sweden are our two biggest downstream markets, with nearly 1 million tonnes of imported RDF/SRF in 2023. As such, many similarities open up for synergies in the coming year. An important factor is logistics, and how we can coordinate the two markets for more efficient operations. Our ambition is to grow further and to cater for the existing over-capacity within energy recovery in Scandinavia,” says Per Mernelius.

Denmark and Sweden stand on the cusp of major waste market transformations within offtake and management. Under the EU ETS system, these changes present unique challenges and opportunities.

“The two markets are seeing slightly different transformations that must be addressed. This is why we are now strengthening our organization with four new employees in Denmark and Sweden. My ambition is that closer cooperation between our two Scandinavian teams will not only streamline our HUB operations further, but also elevate our downstream services, guaranteeing robust supply chains for our stakeholders in both regions," concludes the new Country Manager in Denmark, Per Mernelius.
