The Norwegian office is placed at the historical Avaldsnes at Karmøy.
There are 18 employees in the Norway office working in administration, sales and operations / logistics. The company trades in waste fractions such as wood, cardboard, paper, plastic, mixed waste, sludge, hazardous waste, RDF and SRF. Geminor’s activity is divided between the public sector with household waste and private customers with industrial waste. Geminor takes ownership of the entire value chain from sorting, shredding and baling to delivery to recycling or energy recovery facilities in Europe.
Geminor has in recent years established several logistics centres (HUBs), to create efficiencies in logistics operations, carry out sorting and fuel preparation and add value. We are proud of our innovative approach to quality fuel and product development for different fractions of waste destined for materials or energy recovery. Our two most important HUBs established so far in Norway, are Storøy on Karmøy and in Borg Harbor in Fredrikstad.
At our HUB at Storøy, we receive approximately 30,000 tonnes of waste wood annually which are sorted for material and energy recovery for various recipients in Europe.
The waste wood is delivered to Storøy by truck. The logistics to Storøy is based on return loads from Stavanger in the south to Bergen in the north. It is our subsidiary Geminor Waste Treatment that is responsible for processing the waste wood by sorting, grinding, magnetic separation and shredding into qualities adjusted to the off-taker requirements.
At Kaupaneset in Egersund, Geminor has it's second waste wood hub.
Geminor Waste Treatment AS run the operation in Egersund, together with local subcontractors. Waste wood is collected from local producers, and stored until there is enough tonnage to fill a bulk vessel. Waste wood is transported from Egersund to off-takers in Europe.
Borg havn, Fredrikstad
A HUB for importing about 100 000 tonnes of waste annually.
Geminor has established a HUB in Borg Harbor in Fredrikstad. About 100,000 tonnes of waste is imported by boat from various markets in Europe for energy recovery at Bioel, Sarpsborg Avfallsenergi and Borregaard. The baled waste is delivered to Geminor’s transit hall in Borg Harbor for distribution to the recovery facilities, based on quality and contents.
