Geminor opens stream of sustainable SRF to Finland

Geminor Finland has signed a three-year agreement with Finnsementti for the supply of Solid Recovered Fuel (SRF) for the production of cement. The cooperation includes the supply of SRF, handling and transport of waste fuels to the cement plant in Parainen.

The new contract signed in December 2021 is for the supply of more than 10,000 tonnes of SRF annually over a period of three years, with an option of two further years of delivery. The cooperation between resource management company Geminor and Finish Finnsementti Oy also includes the running of Geminor’s new HUB in Naantali in western Finland. From this location, Geminor will provide services such as logistics, unloading, storage of bales, and transports of SRF for the cement plant at Parainen. The volumes will gradually be increased to 20 000 tonnes per year.

Country Manager for Geminor in Finland, Ismo Hiltunen, comments on the new contract.

Ismo Hultinen is CM at Geminor Finland.

– Geminor has for a number of years been exporting different waste fractions from Finland, but we have never before imported SRF. We are very pleased to be trusted with the supply of SRF and the handling of waste fuels for Finnsementti in the years to come.

– To deliver on this contract we have invested in eight specially modified trailers for the transport of secondary fuels, and we are currently handling 100-200 tonnes of SRF daily for the operation of the plant, says CM at Geminor in Finland, Ismo Hiltunen.
